BORACAY HOTEL RESERVATIONS

WHERE TO STAY IN BORACAY
Boracay features the highest density of hotels and resorts in the Philippines. Some 300 hotels, resorts and inns of differing quality occupy the 7 kilometer-long island and each year, several new hotels open their doors to a growing number of tourists.

Boracay's two primary tourism beaches, White Beach and Bulabog Beach, are located on opposite sides of the island's narrow central area. White Beach is the main tourism beach. It is a bit over four kilometers long and is lined with resorts, hotels, lodging houses, restaurants, and other tourism-related businesses. Across the island from White Beach is Bulabog Beach, a secondary tourism beach and Boracay's main windsurfing and kite boarding area.

Along the White Beach are three former boat docking stations which were discontinued in 2007 but are still being used as points of reference when booking accommodations and virtually divide White Beach into 3 general areas. All three areas have very distinct characteristics. Station 1 is quieter than the rest of White Beach and is known for its especially wide beach and for exclusive resorts and hotels, like Fridays Boracay, Discovery Shores, Waling Waling, Pearl of the Pacific and Seawind. Station 2 is the heart of Boracay’s nightlife where many restaurants, bars and the outdoor D’Mall shopping arcade are located. Station 2 boasts many popular hotels like the Boracay Regency, the affordable La Carmela de Boracay, Red Coconut, or the beautifully renovated Le Soleil de Boracay. Station 3 is known for more affordable places to stay and is very popular with locals and families. The best kept budget secret of Station 3 is the Marzon Beach Resort which offers great value for the money.

A word about beachfront versus non-beachfront hotels: Although beachfront is often desired, many times travelers get great deals and good value for their money by choosing a non-beachfront resort. From station 1 to station 3 the island is only little more than 1 km wide. That means, even if the resort is non-beachfront, it is certainly no more than a 3-5 minute walk away. Great non-beachfront values include the beautiful Boracay Tropics Resort, the very affordable Boracay Holiday Resort, and the exclusive Asya Boracay.

Other beach areas like Diniwid is home to two popular honeymoon resorts such as Nami and Artista Beach Villas, while the newly built Microtel Inn & Suites is perfect for those wanting a bit more of a full service type hotel with a swimming pool. For golf bugs, Fairways and Bluewater Resort Golf and Countryclub has an 18-hole championship course and offer accommodations at the Mulligan Golf Hotel located just a stone’s throw away.

White Beach is the place to be for: Party hopping – Summer Place, Cocomangas Shooter Bar and Pier One are big favorites; Shopping – bargain buys for souvenirs and native trinkets are available at the Talipapa (wet market) while D’Mall offers special beach wear and even furniture; Dining – Aria and La Capannina for great Italian food; La Reserve for Lobster and Escondido Crab House for Crab; True Food and Pahar for Indian; Banza for Portuguese;

At the end of the day, unwind with a relaxing massage on the beach or visit Boracay’s famous Mandala Spa and Villas, Neo Spa at Pearl of the Pacific and the new Discovery Shores Mandala Spa.

How to get there: From Manila’s domestic airport or from Cebu airport, take flights to Boracay either via Kalibo (45 minutes away) or via Caticlan (30-40 minutes away). From Kalibo airport, air-conditioned vans and buses for hire will take you to the Caticlan Jetty Port, where boats are stationed to take you to the island. Motorized tricycles will take you from Caticlan airport to the jetty port, 3 minutes away. From the Caticlan jetty port, a boat ride will take about 10 minutes to Cagban Beach/Jetty Port which serves as Boracay's main entry and exit point during most of the year. When wind and sea conditions dictate, east-facing Tambisaan Beach serves as an alternative entry and exit point. From the Cagban Jetty Port several roads and paths connect the Beachfront Path with Boracay's Main Road, a vehicular road which runs the length of the island and are serviced by countless mutlicabs, tricycles and motorcycles and scooters. Philippine Hotel Reservations Service can also make roundtrip transfers to the hotel of you choice for your convenience and comfort.
